Mind Body Barre began in 2010, when we felt inspired and drawn to use our Reiki knowledge and holistic background at the end of teaching a sweaty and grueling fitness class. Dimming the lights and turning on soft music, we instructed the room to slow down the breath and taking a moment for themselves. What may have looked like a traditional stretch and cool down was the birth of something divinely guided that would change hundreds of lives for the better. The seed was planted that day to create a class that would connect mainstream fitness to begin to see the importance of the mind, body & spirit connection.
As our regular fitness classes began to become increasingly popular we began to realize that it was because of our specific mind, body & spirit emphasis on the method that kept our clients coming back. The specific verbage and phrases used through class, including breath-work and class design was not only a time to un-plug and reconnect with the inner self, but it was physical and emotional release; it was an opportunity to re-boot oneself mentally, physically and spiritually.
We began to see the positive changes in our community and started to study the philosophies of our greatest teachers and mentors and have fused them deeply into this program. The teachings of many holistic practices are profoundly rooted into this training as well as the science and knowledge of the fitness industry. Mind Body Barre has created an opportunity for science to meet synergy of spirit.
“Mind Body Barre” is merely an inspired art which we have created to help bring peace and harmony back into the body specifically during this physical fitness regimen which encourages whole body mindfulness. This program has changed hundreds of minds and bodies alike. It has created a platform for creative expression, emotional release and connection to the authentic self with fitness as an avenue.
