Is there a beginners class?
The answer here is no, and we're not sorry babe! All of our classes are multi-level classes, which means anyone can take them. Our instructors are trained to show modifications for wherever you are on your journey. Our studio focuses primarily on the strengthening of the MIND, BODY, & SPIRIT. While our classes certainly are challenging, we encourage everyone to work at their own pace, regardless of their fitness level or background. We do not have beginner, intermediate or advanced classes simply because we STRONGLY believe in the power of one's own journey; we are all on different journeys and we must learn to honor that.
I'm not good at yoga and I'm not that flexible...
We're sorry you suck at yoga; just kidding. YOU CAN'T BE BAD AT YOGA. There's no such thing. In our method we truly believe that wherever you are, is exactly where you need to be. The progression of your practice comes with time, dedication, committment and acceptance. There's no final destination, that's why they call it a "practice". And if you're not flexible, well then don't you need yoga?
I've never taken ballet or dance?
This is NOT a dance class. In our regular MBB classes, you will get the look of a long & lean dancers body without having to dance. For our cardio classes such as POUND and Cardio Strength, the steps featured are easy to follow movements to boost the heart rate up and get you moving and motivated! You might sweat a little but we can promise you it’s not an audition as one of Janet Jackson’s back-up dancers! This class is a combination of exercise similar to Yoga and Pilates. We incorporate low weight and high repetitions.
Can I take class if I have a bun in the oven?
Yes. We do offer our prenatal classes upon request; however, our classes can be modified to be taken safely throughout your pregnancy. We require a note from your Doctor stating that the class/classes you would like to take are safe for you. Please inform the instructor prior to class to let them know you are expecting. In addition the cost of class for an expecting mom is $12/class.
What is the Reiki Healing Cool Down®?
Our Reiki Healing Cool Down® is a specifically designed relaxation and healing technique in the last few minutes of class promoting mind/body connectedness. Through guided meditation, this cool down will help to reduce stress and increase flexibility in the mind, body & spirit. Using Reiki inspired healing, aromatherapy, assisted stretch, and touch therapy, our Reiki Healing Cool Down promotes body awareness and allows each individual to sharpen their intuition, connect with their own inspiration, and most importantly discover and honor their true authentic self.
But will I actually sweat?
This ain't your grandmas workout (unless you have a seriously bad ass grandma or you ARE a seriously bad ass grandma). Our classes are designed to get your heart rate up while toning your physique from head to toe. Although classes are extremely low impact with many isometric movements, you can expect to leave most likely needing a shower. You can anticipate a high energy, FUN and powerful workout with all the benefits to your mind, body & spirit. #sorrynotsorry
Will classes give me a hot bod?
Besides the fact that you're probably already a smokeshow, The answer is yes. By combining a healthy diet for your body type and taking class on a regular basis, it will change your shape, slim down and tone your body. The class combines intervals of speeding up and slowing down the heart rate throughout the class. We speed up the heart rate during resistance training and slow it down during stretching and breathe work. The yoga inspired stretches lengthen the muscles after a series of low weighted and high repetitious movements. Over a period of time, the class will create denser, more compact muscle groups, increasing your metabolic rate, which will allow you to burn more calories throughout the day. The end result is a long and lean body.
How often should I take class in order to see results?
If want to see a dramatic difference in your physique and get the maximum results you should consider taking class on a consistent basis. Taking class 3-4 (or more) times per week will allow for optimum results. It is safe to take class everyday as we use very low weight and resistance bands. Each movement is followed by stretching to lengthen and lean out the muscles while increasing flexibility.
What do I need to bring?
Nothing really homeslice, we got you boo. For most classes we often workout barefoot or in socks (whatever you prefer). We supply floor mats and weights. If you prefer to use your own mat, you may. Dress in comfortable workout clothing that you can easily move around in.
Can I just show up to class?
You can register for classes using this link. We use a helpful software called, MINDBODY to help us keep track of who is taking classes. It is highly suggested that you register online to reserve a spot. If you wish to pay cash, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know which class you wish to attend. We apologize that we will not be able to guarantee a spot for classes that have not been pre-paid for.
