There seems to be an idea that being spiritual means that we should be at all times love and light… and that is indeed the case. But what does that really mean? In the world we live, we sometimes come across people or situations where this concept is lost. There will indeed be times when someone will try to turn your spiritualism on you and use it to his or her own advantage. This is when you need to stay in your center if you decide that you have been treated less then fairly.
To us, the idea of spiritualism is that of a process or journey. It is one of self-discovery and of learning not only who you are, but who you want to be and knowing that the light of the divine is within all of us.
We strive to share that growth with your fellow humans and to in turn help others find their strengths and their own unique gifts. But beyond that, Spiritualism to me means to live your life in the highest of character, mentally, morally and ethically. It means taking responsibility for your actions and understanding that the decisions you make affect more then just your surrounding small world. It means understanding that you create a ripple effect of energy that sets in motion a chain of events that you are held karmically responsible for.
Does this mean we always do the right thing? That we have always done the right thing? NO. In fact we have made many a bad decision and my actions have hurt people and ourselves. That is our Karma individually. But we have grown from this truth and like Maya Angelo says "When you know better you do better"
Our spiritualism has become the most sacred of connection I have ever known. It has taught us that we are all connected and that it is so important that we all take responsibly for our own energy. Keep your energy pure and of the highest moral character. Be honest with yourself and with others. Stand up for what you believe in. It does not make you less spiritual to speak up when you feel you have been mistreated or when there is an injustice.
Being spiritual is a commitment; a life long relationship filled with happiness and sorrows, and growth. It is ever changing and yet it is the only constant that we have.
We are a family here at the studio and when something affects one of us, it affects us all. We stand by one another and create energy that will make things pure.
Thank you for your continued support to our family.

So far the *8 Weeks to Wellness Challenge* has been incredible! I have had the honor of working some of the most remarkable women, who are all making strides in changing the way they think about themselves, their bodies, and food FOREVER!
This challenge began with so many SIMPLE inspirations and I am so grateful to have such a wonderful group of supporters and friends. You all give me such incredible ideas on a daily basis! Special Thanks to Maryellen for the Wellness Challenge Idea! And also to my good friend Tanya who has been added inspiration with her successful studio on the Northshore (if you are ever in Danvers or Andover please give her a visit!)
Part of this Wellness Challenge requires that all participants log their foods everyday. Yes, EVERYDAY and EVERY SINGLE THING they eat. They are held accountable for the amount of healthy/non-healthy foods they are eating and each of them has a separate goal based on their age, weight and height. Each person is measured in 7 different places on Day 1, Day 30 and Day 60. Before and After pictures are also taken.
Each one of these remarkable women are required to meditate, pray, find peace and serenity in the daily stresses of their lives--yes through work, school, children, household chores and the list goes on... Part of the challenge also requires them to wear a pedometer where they log at least 10,000 Steps Per Day= 5 Miles. They are 100% required to get these steps in as it is a CRUCIAL part of the challenge. What exactly does this do? It allows you to realize, "Oh my Gosh, I've only walked a measly 1,000 steps today..." It allows you to see how much physical activity you are engaging in.
So many of us have long commutes or office/desk-jobs. It can be difficult to motivate yourself to get those steps in, but with the challenge--these ladies have been posting pictures of their morning 10-minute walks (which logs about 2k steps might I add in just 10 minutes!) Holding yourself accountable makes an HUGE difference. Each person knows the consequences of failing to meet their daily goals--- it just leaves you with a "not-so-good" feeling.
The other component of this challenge is learning to CONNECT the mind, body and spirit. They are always working together. I see so many gyms and fitness studios market themselves like this: LOSE 10 POUNDS for Bikini SEASON, Get Ready for that Beach Body...
You will NEVER hear our studio tell you to get ready for Bikini Season, simply because we are practicing at a much higher level of awareness. YES, we have a physical body and to honor this vessel is one of the most important roles in our time here, but learning HOW to connect it to the mind and spirit is the ONLY way we will UNDERSTAND WHY we are holding on to weight, or WHY we are constantly getting sick, or feeling sad or lonely or fearful or stuck.....
I highly recommend Louise Hay's Book You Can Heal Your Life. Her belief system has been forever tattooed in my being. She believes that for every physical ailment, there is an emotional/mental ROOT problem. If we forever ignore our bodies, mask our symptoms with pain killers and antibiotics--we are literally telling our body to SHUT UP and we begin to hold on to things that don't serve us--- i.e WEIGHT being one of them.
One client shared a story that she had recently had strep throat. She had been trying to drop some weight and continued to do all the "right things", working out, eating right and so on. She decided to look up what strep throat meant and it affirmed that she might need to speak her truth regarding something. She knew exactly what it pertained to. Putting Ego and Fear Aside, she spoke up--feeling like the weight of the world had been lifted off of her. The next day she weighed herself and had lost 2lbs ;) Coincidence? Maybe :)
This week's mini-challenge for the girls was to write a letter to the NEW SELF they already are in the process of being. This was written by Anne Patacao, one of our challenge ladies. It is so beautifully written, It gives me chills:
My Darling Annie,
I want to start this note by telling you, you are a beautiful , charismatic, caring, loving, giving person. Remember you are exactly where you are meant to be, be patient, focus and stay positive!
You are capable of anything you put your mind to, look at how far you've come :)
Don't be afraid to let go of anything that no longer brings you joy. Take time for yourself and do the things that bring you joy. Be Happy!!! Be kind to others, but remember don't give to much. This isn't the end of your journey, its a new way of life. Continue to evolve yourself into who you want to be. BE HAPPY YOUR WORTH IT! Remember to live your life for yourself .....
"perpetual optimism is a force multiplier."
Always stay true to yourself.
I am so proud of each of you! If anyone would like more information about our next challenge, please feel free to email me! Ando@mindbodybarre.com
Hello MBB’ers! Let’s jump right into what’s been going on at MBB™
As many of you know, I just got back from vacation. We spent 5 sunny (warm!) days on the beautiful island and I decided to take up a client dare: Planking on the beach—not the worldwide game that’s been going on, but a real fitness plank! (Cathy, one of our clients, noted that guy in the back was attempting side plank…)
Going away was the first time in over a year that I had been away from my computer, iPhone, iPad, iEverything and I didn’t look at them again until I got back. My boyfriend has told me that I am always attached to my phone, facebook or studio work. (He doesn’t have facebook/twitter and I honestly didn’t know how he went about life until last week!) I have to admit, it was kind of nice…although there were hundreds (not really) just a few times when I would try to pick up someone’s wifi on the beach to check my newsfeed….
With that said, I do encourage you to take a day where you shut off your phone, log off your computer and take in nature around you. Spend some time with friends (not on facebook!) and have dinner with family (not via skype!)
Getting away is necessary for everyone every once and a while.
Seven more girls have been inducted into the Patriots Cheerleader Alumni! As of last night, Kayla & Kelsey are officially done cheering for the Patriots. Congrats Girls and welcome to the Alumni Family! STRIDE is back on the schedule for Tuesdays!

It always seems that the weekend comes and goes too fast. And so often to we forget to reflect and recapture the moments that captivate our souls. With that said, I feel the urge to share these moments with all of you.
This past weekend, Mind Body Barre™ had the honor of being part of the Annual Flames of Hope Water Fire Event. It can be difficult to describe a moment that has touched you so deeply that you will forever be enchanted by.
Saturday was the most beautiful day outside and it seemed that some divine source had graciously shined the sun’s warmth down upon us. If you follow “The Secret” or know anything about the flow of energy, you will understand when I tell you how the day played out. From the time I parked my car with my mother to the end of the night, everything seemed to flow energetically and I could feel each of us raising the energetic vibration.
As we were gathering together the things out of our car that we needed to bring over to our table (a half mile walk, don’t ask me why we didn’t use the “loading dock” :) ) a woman, who introduced herself as Julie, asked us if we needed any help carrying items to our table. Wishing we had more hands, we graciously accepted her help! As we walked over to our table we learned she would be running in the 5k event the next day, a race that would help to raise money for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation-where the funds are used right in the local community.
Walking toward our tent, the Flames of Hope Village was a sea of pink. Our table was located in the Healing Garden which was the most beautifully manicured Zen Garden with Koi Fish, herbs and stones. We were in the tent with many other healers, reiki therapists, and light workers. There was even a group with signs that said, “FREE HUGS”. I think I felt every possible emotion on Saturday, love, hope, sadness, anger, anxiety, gratitude and the list just goes on.
Each time I would speak with someone, on a soul level, I felt like I had reconnected with ancestors through consciousness. Seeing Gary Calvino, the Director of Development, for the Gloria Gemma Foundation, run around in his pink jumpsuit, pink crocodile shoes, and spray painted pink hair would make anyone look twice; but there was something very magical about his interactions with people- like Santa with children on Christmas. Gary’s energy is so special, yet unexplainable, and there is no denying it when you are in his presence.
Hearing stories from survivors, seeing the hurt, love, hope, strength and determination on their faces is remarkable. The Illuminations of Life Ceremony was beautiful, words cannot describe.
For so many of you, in some way you have been affected by this disease. I wanted to let each of you know that you have all directly or indirectly touched my heart. There are so, so, SO many stories from Saturday that I could go on and on about, but I wanted to make each of you aware that you are beautiful, your intentions do shape your future and others, and just as Julie’s helping hand, your small acts of kindness are not small at all; they go much further than you could even possibly imagine.
To my mother, Wanda who has made the healing part of our studio possible. Mia (who many of you met at our event this past weekend) who is a wealth of compassion, love and wisdom. Kelsey (the girl who gets things DONE!) for our beautiful Pink Logo T-shirts and your volunteer time. Tony Dettorre- the "go-to" promotional logo and flyer extraordinaire! Gary Calvino and Maria Gemma who continue to inspire and uplift our community. And a special thanks to The Universe for your divine timing and loving support.
Take a Class!
