Need inspiration? We all do from time to time. I don’t consider myself a runner, and I probably never will be, but there really is something completely freeing about hitting the pavement and feeling your body move through the wind.
Last year I couldn’t even run a mile… true story. I grabbed a running partner (much more experienced than myself) and hit the pavement once a week. By the end of summer I was running 10 miles at a time. I couldn’t believe it. It was the motivation and determination that inspired me to keep going, because our mind is much more powerful than our body; there is that mind/body connection again. Each time I wanted to lay down on the sidewalk for a nap, I would tell myself that I could do it and that pain didn’t exist anywhere else but in my mind. I had the power to change that.
A good friend of mine and my chiropractor, Marc was the very same way. He couldn’t even run a mile last year! And now, he is running this year’s 2011 Boston Marathon. Please join me in supporting Marc as he prepares for this exciting event. You can visit his donation page here. All donations will help support the following causes: Suicide Prevention, Volunteers Services to Seniors and After-School Programming for Youth.
Remember that we are the only people who put limitations on ourselves, often out of fear. You can replace that with love and positive affirmation: I am fully supported and ready to take the next step. Take one step closer today to overcoming whatever obstacle is holding you back, and go ahead, laugh in the face of fear!
